St Mary's Primary School

This new school was completed in 2005 on a greenfield site adjacent to Nagle College in the Lindenow area. The new school replaces the original facility located in the business centre of Bairnsdale. The school consists entirely of permanent construction, with learning areas configured in separate pods of four learning spaces, a common learning space and student amenities. The pod structures utilise a simple system of heating and ventilation.

The complex includes comprehensive administration and staff facilities, a school chapel linked to a large multipurpose facility, a library, creative arts centre and a major courtyard incorporating play areas and equipment. The buildings have been arranged in a U shape permitting a view towards the distant mountain range and providing a focus for school gatherings. The complex includes a paved bus drop-off area and car park along with netball/basketball courts and an oval. The site development works include an indigenous garden and the master plan provides for a future educational wetlands area.
